“Chernogirls” and its photos find a new location in the United States.

«From Minsk and Čornobyl» to the «Big Apple». Marc Erwin Babej – photojournalist at «Der Spiegel» – brings his photographic project “Chernogirls” to the United States, «where the models become witnesses of the post-soviet generation» in a «cosmopolitan» context. The shooting’s location is composed by «corners of Brooklyn’s industrial area», New York’s graffiti and Chinatown.

According to Babej, «the girls of Čornobyl» represent a «vitality» that is different from the breakdown «of their country». The photographic models work in range of visual arts and theatre, have an «education in political science and architecture», speak three languages and went away from their place of origin «to know the world» (la Repubblica.it).
