London. A different way to take photos of people in difficult economic conditions.

Rosie Holtom is a «photographer and volunteer of the homeless centre “Shelter from the Storm“, in London» (la Republica.it).

In her «project against stereotypes» – realised in favour of the mentioned homeless shelter – she takes black and white pictures whose protagonists are people living in very difficult economic conditions, but – in this case – wearing a jacket, a shirt, «make-up and trinkets».

Rosie Holtom intended to show these persons without any «trace of the poverty». According to her, «in this period of the year we are bombarded by images expressing only sadness» and it is important to look at the protagonists of the photographic service with a different point of view, because they «express vitality like anybody else» (ibidem).
