Member of the European Parliament suspended. He addressed a mask and a salute recalling Nazism to the German Chancellor.

An Italian Member of the European Parliament has been suspended “for 10 days”. It has been decided by the Assembly, in plenary session from 26 to 29 October in Strasbourg (AGI).

Gianluca Buonanno is a member of the party Lega Nord. In the EU Parliament, he reached the ranks of the Europe of Nations and Freedom Group. On the occasion of the “plenary session of beginning October”, he decided to “greet” the “German Chancellor Angela Merkel wearing a mask” with toothbrush moustache (usually associated with the moustache of Hitler) and making “the Nazi salute”.

According to the Italian news agency AGI, “Buonanno” will have “to pay a fine of 3,060 euros”, corresponding to “10 days of allowance”. The same amount inflicted on his “Polish colleague Janusz Korwin-Mikke” (among the Non-attached Members of the Parliament), who did a similar gesture on the occasion of the “plenary session of last July” (ibidem).
